Faster than Messi and Ronaldo: Kane breaks historic goalscoring record
Harry Kane has done it again! The FC Bayern goalscorer continues to make history, setting a record in Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with FC Brugge that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo have ever equalled in their careers.
With his goal in the against the Belgians, Kane scored his 20th goal of the season – after just twelve competitive matches. No other player in Europe’s top leagues has reached this mark in such a short space of time.

As statistical analyses show, Cristiano Ronaldo needed 13 games in his best season (2014/15 at Real Madrid) to reach 20 goals. Lionel Messi needed 17 games in his record season (2012/13 at FC Barcelona) to break the same mark.
Harry Kane, on the other hand, did it in 12 games – making him the fastest player in modern football history to score 20 competitive goals at the start of a season.
It’s a record that won’t keep Messi or Ronaldo awake at night, but is nevertheless proof of Kane’s incredible early form. The 32-year-old is not only consistently scoring goals, but is also increasingly playing his way into the role of undisputed leader at FC Bayern .
Since moving to Munich from London, Kane has seamlessly continued his world-class performances from the Premier League. This season, he is scoring almost at will – whether in the Bundesliga, Champions League or Cup.
His record so far: 12 games, 20 goals, 6 assists
This means the Englishman has been directly involved in 26 goals – a figure that is simply exceptional at this stage of the season.
