Erling Haaland says his lip injury ‘looks worse than it is’ after the Manchester City striker suffered a freak accident on international duty.
The 25-year-old required three stitches last week when he was hit in the face by the door of a bus.
But the injury did not stop Haaland from scoring five goals in Norway ’s 11-1 win at home to Moldova on Tuesday.
Haaland’s facial wound will also be on show this weekend when City host Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
‘The bus just tried to bang me out and almost did,’ Haaland told Sky Sports when asked about the injury.

‘It was an incredible one, I was unlucky but also quite lucky because it could’ve gone much worse. It was a weird thing.
‘It was a bit painful, it looks worse than what it is. I had to have three stitches, it sounds worse than what it is, but the stitches… the anaesthetic is worse, that was the worst part.’

In a separate interview with Viaplay this week, Haaland warned his City teammates after consecutive Premier League defeats to Tottenham and Brighton before the international break.
‘We’ve lost two games in a row, it’s not good enough, it’s way too bad,’ Haaland said.
‘We need to figure it out, get back to winning ways. We can’t afford to lose games as there’s so many good teams.
‘It’s perfect to turn things around against United. We need to all be on our best, get things going, because it’s not been good enough so far.’
