Did you know Lamine Yamal’s celebration is inspired by one of the greatest NBA legends

Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in world football, not just for his incredible talent, but also for his bold goal celebration.

The 18-year-old forward has started placing an imaginary crown on his head after scoring, symbolising what he sees as the coronation of a future king of football.

While many fans admire his confidence, the celebration has also drawn criticism. Some believe it is too much for a player of his age, especially given the pressure that already surrounds him.

Others, however, argue that it shows his determination to build a lasting legacy in the sport.

Yamal first introduced this celebration during Barcelona’s pre-season tour in Asia, where he scored twice against Seoul FC.

After thumping his chest, he crowned himself, a move inspired by NBA legend LeBron James.

LeBron has long been known as “King James,” and his self-crowning celebration became a trademark as he grew into one of the greatest players in basketball history.

Since then, Yamal has carried the same energy into Barcelona’s matches. He celebrated in this way after scoring a brace against Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy, and again in La Liga fixtures against Mallorca and Levante.

The young talent has already made the gesture part of his identity on the pitch, much like his idol did in basketball.

Now wearing Barcelona’s iconic No. 10 shirt, Yamal is under enormous expectations, but his celebration shows he is ready to embrace them.

With Spain’s upcoming fixtures against Bulgaria and Turkey, fans may see the young star continue his “crowning” tradition on the international stage.

Whether viewed as arrogance or confidence, one thing is certain that Lamine Yamal is determined to be remembered as more than just a promising youngster.
