Reece James has singled out one person at Chelsea who has had the biggest impact on his return to form and fitness.

Blues captain James produced a man-of-the-match display in the win over Nottingham Forest , capping off a super start to the season which has seen him feature in every Premier League and Champions League game.

It is a remarkable run for a player who has been blighted by injuries across the last four seasons, never managing to play more than half of the available games. This season already, James has almost matched the total number of games he played in the 2023-24 campaign when he was named captain.

"I am feeling good and that is reflecting on how I am performing at the moment," James said told the club's official website.

"I am on the way to getting back to where I was. It has taken a long time but I am feeling stronger game by game and I am happy to be playing regularly for Chelsea Football Club."

Much has previously been made of Chelsea managing James' workload, but the right-back has played the full 90 minutes on each of his last four starts.

Asked what has changed for his fitness, the Blues skipper was keen to credit one person in particular.

He added: "I don’t want to go into it too much but there are many people behind the scenes who are helping me – they know who they are.

"There is someone at the club who I work closely with, and he has been a big part of keeping me on the pitch."
