Chelsea have confirmed that Raheem Sterling is part of their Premier League squad for the remainder of the season.

Sterling's future at Stamford Bridge has been in serious jeopardy ever since Enzo Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the beginning of last season. While still at the club, the winger was stripped of his number and was forced out on loan to Arsenal.

The 30-year-old struggled at the Emirates Stadium and despite making 28 appearances for the club, he only scored once in the Carabao Cup. Upon his return to Chelsea , the expectation was that Sterling would be sold and Fulham were thought to be keen to bring him to Craven Cottage.

However, that move did not materialise and Sterling was left tethered to Chelsea until at least January but whether he features before then remains to be seen. Axel Disasi is another player that was told he could leave in the summer but remained a Blues player.

Like Sterling, he also looks set to spend the season out of the picture but has been included in the 19-man squad. See the full squad list below:

Goalkeepers : Filip Jorgensen, Robert Sanchez*

Defenders : Tosin Adarabioyo*, Benoit Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah*, Levi Colwill*, Marc Cucurella, Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Malo Gusto, Reece James*

Midfielders : Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer*

Forwards : Liam Delap*, David Datro Fofana, Joao Pedro*, Pedro Neto, Raheem Sterling*

The eagle-eyed Chelsea fans will notice that a number of key players are not included like Alejandro Garnacho and Estevao Willian. Fortunately, there is no need to worry.

The Premier League allows an indefinite number of U21 players to play in the division provided they were born on or after January 1, 2004. That means the duo, as well as Facundo Buonanotte, Jamie Gittens and Romeo Lavia have all been named in that list rather than the main squad and will be able to compete in the Premier League this season.
