Liverpool travel to newly promoted Burnley on Sunday aiming to maintain their perfect start to the 2025/26 Premier League season. The Clarets have lost two of their first three matches but did pick up a win in their only previous home game, defeating Sunderland.

However, Burnley have conceded three goals in both of their defeats—against Tottenham and Manchester United—and will need a much-improved defensive display if they are to take anything from this fixture. Given Liverpool’s strong start to the campaign, it’s difficult to see Sunday’s 2pm kick-off ending in anything other than a comfortable win for the reigning champions.

Burnley face one of their toughest challenges of the season as they host Liverpool, who will be determined to keep their 100% record intact. Scott Parker’s side have conceded exactly three goals in each of their two defeats since returning to the top flight, and three of their four matches across all competitions so far have produced over 2.5 goals. Liverpool, meanwhile, have won all three of their opening league games, with each of their first two matches—three if you include the Community Shield—featuring at least four goals.

The Reds have dominated recent meetings between the sides, winning each of their last five league encounters with Burnley, including a 3-1 victory in their most recent clash in 2024. In fact, Liverpool have won 10 of their 13 Premier League matches against the Clarets, losing just once since 2017.
