Bryan Mbeumo nominated for Premier League’s Player of the Month award

Bryan Mbeumo has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award after a series of brilliant displays for Manchester United throughout October.

Mbeumo has enjoyed a strong start to life at Old Trafford after his £71 million move from Brentford in the summer.

Despite inconsistent performances from the Red Devils, the 26-year-old winger has been a constant threat down the team’s right-hand side – with his link-up play with Amad a joy to watch.

But Mbeumo has translated threat into productivity this month, scoring three goals and providing one assist in three league games.

This includes assisting Mason Mount’s opening goal against Sunderland, opening the scoring for United at Anfield in the historic 2-1 victory, and returning two goals against Brighton in the 4-2 win last weekend.

Each contribution was vital and demonstrates his versatility as an attacker, capable of creating chances and finishing them off.

United began the month in 14th, fresh from the humiliating 3-1 defeat away to Brentford. But three wins on the bounce has seen Ruben Amorim’s side rise to sixth, alleviating pressure on the Portuguese coach.

A win on Saturday would see United go second, if only temporarily – but a prospect which had seemed impossible at the end of September.

And the Premier League has recognised Mbeumo’s role in this transformation at Old Trafford by nominating him for the Player of the Month award.

The Cameroon international is also in contention for United’s own version of the PoTM award while he has already scooped up the the league’s Player of the Week after his heroics against Brighton.

And he will undoubtedly be hoping to secure all three accolades, but faces stiff competition from players elsewhere in the England’s top division.

There are seven other candidates for the award:

Matty Cash (Aston Villa) Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle) Erling Haaland (Manchester City) Junior Kroupi (AFC Bournemouth) Nordi Mukiele (Sunderland) Igor Thiago (Brentford) Jurrien Timber (Arsenal)

United fans can vote here to ensure the club’s new talismanic attacker wins the award as the Red Devils prepare to face Nottingham Forest this weekend.
