Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano hospitalised with pneumonia and set to miss Europa League action
Real concerns have risen at Bologna , as head coach Vincenzo Italiano has been admitted to hospital for pneumonia , according to a club statement.
The Rossoblu boss is set for a stay at the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Polyclinic’s pulmonology department with “pneumonia of likely bacterial aetiology (not related to COVID-19)”. The 47-year-old will be at Professor Stefano Nava’s department and will receive specific antibiotic therapy.
While it is believed that he will remain hospitalised for approximately five days, his clinical condition is currently slowly improving, and updates will follow in the coming days. Unfortunately, his trip to the hospital means he will miss his side’s Europa League away clash against Romania’s FCSB in Bucharest.
Fifth-placed Bologna have had a positive start to the season so far, winning four and drawing one of their opening seven games. In the Europa League, they’re looking for some better form and a first win at the third time of asking. They’ve lost 1-0 to Aston Villa and drawn 1-1 with SC Freiburg.
