With Diaz heading to Germany, the Reds are set to go hell for leather to sign wantaway Newcastle star Alexander Isak .
The Swede, 25, last week informed the Toon that he wants to leave St James' Park .
Isak has not gone on his club's pre-season Asia tour amid intense transfer speculation.
Reports suggest that the prolific striker has agreed personal terms with Liverpool .
But the Reds will have to cough up a huge fee for the deal to happen.
With three years remaining on Isak's contract, Newcastle are demanding £150m for their star man.
The two clubs are set to meet in the coming days, with Liverpool reportedly believing that they can whittle the Toon's asking price down to £120m.
Should Liverpool land their man, Newcastle's desperate striker search will intensify further.

Eddie Howe 's side have already been knocked back by Hugo Ekitike , who instead headed to Liverpool in a £79m move .
Newcastle are now targeting RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko , who is claimed to be available for around £70m.
Having also let Isak's deputy Callum Wilson leave on a free transfer earlier this summer, the Toon may need to recruit more than one striker in the coming weeks.
Ollie Watkins , rated at between £40m and £45m by Aston Villa , is on Newcastle's radar.
While fellow Premier League stars Yoane Wissa and Nicolas Jackson have also been linked.
Newcastle's swoops could be scuppered by Manchester United , who continue to lurk in the striker market.

The Red Devils have already splurged around £130m on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo .
But despite this expensive outlay, Ruben Amorim 's side are believed to still be coveting a central striker.
SunSport understands that Sesko and Watkins are Man Utd's top two striker targets .
Aston Villa have so far resisted enquiries for Watkins this summer.
Should their stance change, Unai Emery 's side would surely swoop for a striker before the August deadline.
