As well as the ‘bomb squad’ and Mainoo: Journo believes there’s a ‘message being sent’ that Amorim wants rid of one Red

Manchester United have seven days to sanction any further incomings or outgoings before Ruben Amorim is made to settle for the squad at his disposal.

The Red Devils have already welcomed three mega-money signings this summer in the forms of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, as well as youngster Diego Leon, who officially agreed his move back in January but was made to wait until after his 18th birthday to join.

Despite the message throughout the summer being that a goalkeeper wasn’t a priority this time around, it’s thought the club will add Senne Lammens to Amorim’s ranks in the next week.

How prominent a role the 23-year-old, currently at Belgian outfit Antwerp, will play remains to be seen, but it does look as though Andre Onana is at risk of losing his status as Amorim’s No.1 .

Onana spent the majority of the summer sidelined with a hamstring injury, causing him to miss the entirety of United’s pre-season tour before returning to training in the build-up to their season-opener against Arsenal.

Then, for the clash against the Gunners, Amorim opted against including the Cameroonian in his matchday squad, instead calling upon Altay Bayindir to make a rare Premier League start. It was suggested at the time that Onana’s absence was down to his lack of training, although the coach had assured that he was fully fit before kick-off.

Fast-forward to the weekend, and Onana was again left out of the starting XI, although this time, he did make the bench, prompting speculation over his prospective involvement throughout the campaign.

Journalist Nathan Salt took to X/Twitter when the Reds’ line-up was confirmed to react to the shot-stopper’s absence, suggesting there was a ‘message being sent’ by Amorim.

Kobbie Mainoo is also seemingly facing an uncertain future after being an unused substitute for the two matches played thus far.
