As well as Alisson and Konate: Slot could be without ‘ridiculously good’ Liverpool ace for Man United visit

Arne Slot has been left sweating over the conditions of some of his most trusted lieutenants ahead of the visit of Manchester United on Sunday.

The Liverpool boss was dealt an initial setback during his side’s defeat to Chelsea prior to the international break when Ibrahima Konate was forced off in the second half with a quad injury.

He did join up with the France squad, but only took part in some light training and was an unused substitute for their win over Azerbaijan. Konate was subsequently released from the team’s camp over the weekend to return to England and undergo further checks on his condition.

Slot also faces a difficult decision as to how much Alexis Mac Allister can feature, given the short turnaround in his Argentina duties to Sunday’s fixture.

The world champions were originally due to face Puerto Rico in a friendly on Monday in Chicago. However, it was then moved to Tuesday night in Miami, giving the midfielder even less time to recover from his lengthy trip back home and begin preparations for a high-stakes contest.

Now, there are doubts as to whether Ryan Gravenberch will be available come the weekend after he was withdrawn after 45 minutes in the Netherlands’ win over Finland yesterday.

The Dutchman, hailed as ‘ridiculously good’ by pundit Leon Osman recently, reportedly indicated to Ronald Koeman that he was suffering from some ‘minor hamstring problems’ , prompting the coach to bring him off and avoid risking any more damage.

It’s worth bearing in mind for the United faithful that Liverpool are already confirmed to be without stalwart No.1 Alisson Becker, whilst Wataru Endo was ruled out of Japan’s double-header of friendlies over the break.
