Even though the summer transfer window has closed, it seems that Arsenal are already putting plans in place for the future.

The Gunners made eight new additions to their squad during the summer window, including the arrivals of Eberechi Eze , Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke.

Arsenal also signed Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, and concluded their transfer business with a deadline day swoop for Piero Hincapie .

The summer transfer window saw a host of other players linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium , and now, even with the window closed, there are rumours about players still being on Arsenal's shortlist.

Caught Offside have reported that Nottingham Forest defender Murillo is a target for Arsenal going forward. It has been claimed that the Gunners will face competition from Barcelona for the centre-back's signature.

Rumours linking Arsenal with a move for Murillo come a few months after Liverpool were credited with an interest in signing the Forest star. The Merseyside outfit were reportedly interested in bringing the Brazilian to Anfield, but this summer saw them instead sign Giovanni Leoni from Parma and also tried to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

Arsenal have already been busy in the centre-back market this summer with Mosquera and Hincapie's arrivals strengthening the Gunners' defensive options. Jakub Kiwior left the club to join Porto but the Poland international was allowed to leave after the deal to sign Hincapie was completed.

The next time Arsenal will be able to sign new players will be in the New Year when the January transfer window opens. It remains to be seen if Murillo will be a target at that point, and if the Gunners choose to try and sign the Forest star.
