Martin Odegaard has insisted he has his shoulder injury ‘under control’ after the Arsenal captain’s recent injury worries.

Arsenal have won two of their opening three games of the new Premier League season but already injury problems are threatening to cause havoc to Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Odegaard was forced off during the 5-0 victory over Leeds United in August – the same afternoon the Gunners lost Bukayo Saka to another hamstring injury.

While the injury was not bad as initially feared, the midfielder was left out of the starting XI that faced Liverpool the following week , coming on for the final 20 minutes on Merseyside.

Odegaard was called up to the Norway squad before the trip to Anfield and played the first 45 minutes in the 1-0 victory over Finland.

The Gunners captained suffered a serious ankle injury while representing his country in September last year, missing three months of action.

His latest issue would appear far less serious, insisting there was no club vs country row brewing over his fitness heading into the international break.

‘It hurt a lot, but now I got it under control and I feel ready,’ Odegaard said.

‘It was never an issue. I talk a lot with Stale Solbakken (Norway’s manager). The club obviously wanted me for Liverpool, and my only job was to get ready.’

Arsenal welcome Nottingham Forest to the Emirates in Saturday’s early kick-off – with former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou set to be in the dugout for the away side.

Arsenal are likely to remain without Saka following his latest hamstring injury with Kai Havertz recovering from minor knee surgery.

William Saliba is also a major doubt. The centre-half was forced off in the opening five minutes of the game against Liverpool having suffered a sprained ankle in the warm-up.
