Arsenal continue to be active in the summer transfer market and are looking for some late market opportunities. Mikel Arteta has been asked after the securing of Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera while on their pre-season tour of Asia, whether this could conclude their business or not.

"I said that I was extremely happy with the way that we have approached the window and how aggressive we have been," he said when asked whether, with the two deals, he still felt the team was short as he said previously. "There's still a long period still with the window open.

"So far we are very happy with what we've achieved and make sure at the end of the window we continue to be super happy."

The player's release clause was understood to expire before the start of the Premier League season. However, conflicting reports surround the exact date of expiry, with some claiming August 1 and others the week before the new campaign gets underway.

Palace want at least £35million up front in any deal, but if Arsenal can find an agreement between £50million and £60million, they will be able to secure one of the league's most impressive players from recent years, in his prime age, for a price which clubs are paying for players with potential upsides rather than guarantees.

There is the £55million deal for Mohammed Kudus to Spurs and a similar price tags for Jamie Gittens to Chelsea and Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United. The Gunners would have found themselves bringing in a player of potentially world-class quality for the price of a player aiming to reach that level.
