Anthony Gordon has put any ill-feeling towards Alexander Isak for his actions this summer behind him, and wished the striker well following his controversial transfer to Liverpool . The Sweden international completed a deal worth £125million to Newcastle on transfer deadline day to bring an end to a tense and bitter saga saga.

Isak pushed for an exit from St James' Park as the Magpies initially knocked back Liverpool's advances. The 25-year-old did not feature in the first-team fold after not travelling with the club for their pre-season tour of Asia, and ultimately produced a stunning statement last month to suggest Newcastle had went back on their word .

Isak completed a move to Anfield in the final hours as the Magpies made deals for Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford in a bid to dampen the impact of their star striker's move . Both parties are now able to move on from what could have been an awkward reunion if a deal had not been sealed.

After the events of the summer, Newcastle gave an economical rather than emotional goodbye . The transfer statement totalled just 37 words despite the success Isak achieved in three years on Tyneside.

Gordon however, was able to push past any hurt and sent a reflective message to his former team-mate. The Newcastle star expressed his joy playing alongside Isak.

"Regardless of the situation & what's gone on," Gordon posted. "It's been a pleasure to play with you.

"One of the best chemistries I've had on the pitch and more importantly a great person and teammate I wish you nothing but the best brother."

After being announced as a new Liverpool player, Isak explained what had drawn him to Anfield. The Premier League star expressed it was a combination of the club's history and what they are on their way to do next.

Isak said: “It’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is. The history of the club. Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history. I want to win trophies.

"That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.

“I feel like this is the next step for me in my career. I’m super-happy that I’ve been given this chance and I’m very motivated to do something well with it.”
