Alan Shearer perfectly sums up Marc Guehi and Liverpool saga after transfer collapsed

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has hailed Marc Guehi as the "ultimate professional" in his bid to join Liverpool , but insists it "doesn't seem right" that his move collapsed while Alexander Isak sealed his Anfield move after going on strike.
Guehi's transfer was called off at the last minute on deadline day after Crystal Palace failed to secure his replacement, which would have been Brighton's Igor Julio, before he opted to join West Ham instead.
The England defender had already completed part of his medical and even filmed a farewell video. Liverpool had agreed a £35million fee for Guehi, whose contract at Selhurst Park expires next summer, but Palace chairman Steve Parish performed a U-turn just before the deadline.
Guehi has played in all six of Palace's matches this season, including two in Europe, and has earned plaudits for his professionalism amid ongoing speculation linking him to Liverpool. On the other hand, Isak got his move to Liverpool after refusing to play for Newcastle . Yoane Wissa did the same thing before leaving Brentford for the Magpies.
Shearer said Guehi "did everything right" but said it didn't make sense that he wasn't rewarded with a move, while the other two players got their exists through controversial measures. He said Isak and Wissa's behaviour was a "bad look for football'.
"Marc Guehi, on the other hand, did everything right for Crystal Palace and suffered because he didn’t get his move to Liverpool as Palace couldn’t get a replacement," he said.
"He was the ultimate professional but didn’t get his move, and that doesn’t seem right. I’m sure he’ll get that move at the end of the season on a free transfer and benefit financially, but still.
"I guess for both clubs it’s a relief that it has been sorted out, particularly Newcastle and Brentford, and for the players especially. Their managers have had to constantly talk every single day about certain players rather than the team, which isn’t helpful.

"It needed to be sorted out one way or the other, and it has been. So it’s time to move on, get your head down and concentrate on football, which is what everyone always wants anyway."
Shearer said the sagas showed that the transfer window should be closed before the start of the Premier League season, a measure which was actually brought in between 2018 and 2020.
He added: "I’m not a fan of the transfer window going past the season starting. I guess maybe one of the reasons it does is to align with the rest of Europe or world football because of their leagues as well. But it’s only a hindrance for players, clubs, and fans really that the window has gone past the start of the season. I’m not a fan of that."
According to the Guardian, Guehi has been left "extremely happy" with Palace after his transfer to Liverpool collapsed. The report claims Palace boss Oliver Glasner threatened to resign if Guehi was sold without a replacement.
Guehi will continue to play for Palace despite his dissatisfaction, it says, but he is considering whether to continue as club captain.
